Andrew Brokos

On his Card Player Magazine blog, PokerSavvy Plus Coach Andrew Brokos made the announcement that he will be joining Team Pokerstars Online –which is just the next step in his evolution as a poker superstar. Brokos is one of online poker’s top minds, and is lead instructor at the online poker training site PokerSavvy Plus. Basically a jack-of-all-trades in the poker world, Brokos is a writer, player, and entrepreneur –if it is poker related you can be certain that Andrew “Foucault” Brokos has his hand in it somehow!

Brokos is the rare triple threat in poker, having had success in both online cash-games and tournaments, and has been increasingly active on the live tournament circuit, where he has cashed in four of the last five WSOP Main Event championships, including a 35th place finish in the 2008 Main Event where he earned his biggest live cash to date, $193,000. The only area of poker where Brokos is untested at this point is in live cash games, but I’m sure that is coming in the near future.

Brokos was born in September, 1982, and attended and graduated the University of Chicago with a degree in Philosophy before turning to poker as his source of income. The Maryland native now resides in Boston, Massachusetts where he runs the Boston Debate League. The Boston Debate League is a volunteer driven organization that works as an after-school program for area schools –for more information on the Boston Debate league visit

Brokos has created over 100 poker training videos for PokerSavvy Plus covering a wide variety of topics from cash games to tournaments, and everything from specific strategic situations to the best way to use a HUD. Brokos also spans the gamut of stakes in his training videos, tackling everything from the micro-stakes to high-stakes games.

Brokos is also a contributor for Card Player Magazine writing both blog entries and full-length feature articles, as well as giving readers of the popular poker publication a chance to get a glimpse of his poker training style with free training videos available at Card Player. Brokos write multiple articles for Card Player every week, once again covering everything from strategy to the poker industry and legislation.

The player who goes by the name ‘Foucault’ at the online poker tables has done extremely well in the big tournament series, having won an FTOPS tournament in May 2010, and followed that up with a 3rd place finish in a WCOOP tournament in September 2010.

His FTOPS win came in the 2-day $2,000 NLHE tournament where Brokos booked a massive $450,000 win. His WCOOP win was in a $500 buy-in NLHE tournament where he cashed for an impressive $117,984 for his 3rd place finish.

Brokos has also won the Sunday $200k Guaranteed on UB Poker in November of 2007, and the Full Tilt Poker $100,000 Guaranteed in November 2009. At the time of writing Brokos has passed the $1 million mark in career tournament earnings; the first benchmark of truly great players.
