When Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond decided to create an online poker training site he was well aware that he needed a competent, successful, low-limit poker coach to balance the site’s training videos. After plenty of research and interviews he decided on Don Nguyen, and the decision has proven to be yet another genius move by Galfond.
But don’t be mistaken in thinking that Nguyen is merely a low-limit grinder, SoCalQuest was able to put himself through UCLA –while living a very nice lifestyle—by playing online poker, and now the college grad has decided to put any career plans on ice while he focuses on tearing up the poker scene.
Nguyen was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended UCLA. The now 22 year-old Nguyen plans to continue to grow as a poker player, and has begun to branch out into the live poker tournament scene in 2010. Nguyen won the $335 No Limit Holdem event at the Commerce Holdem Series, pocketing $11,680.
PokerTableRatings.com has tracked Nguyen’s success at the online poker tables in a variety of games and stakes, and shows him with a massive $150,000 in profits from January 2009 through May 2010.Overall Nguyen has a win-rate of nearly 5BB/100!
