When it comes to poker and behavioral psychology few people are as ensconced in both worlds as JimmyLegs, which makes his insights into poker all the more brilliant and groundbreaking. Wray lives in California and attended UCLA film school before going to work for Disney Animation. Wray decided to become a stay-at-home dad and turned to online poker as a part-time income. Wray was so successful as a low-limit No Limit Holdem player that he was signed as a Cardrunners coach and has been able to blend his two passions together, poker and filmmaking.

JimmyLegs has produced the wildly popular Brain Fail series on Cardrunners, an 8-part video series exploring how to get inside your opponent’s head and figure out what makes them tick –which JimmyLegs admits has varying success. Here is a look at the eight topics JimmyLegs discusses in ‘Brain Fail’:

  • Episode 1 – Win/Loss and Pain/Pleasure
  • Episode 2 – Apophenia, how your mind tricks you into making sense of unrelated events
  • Episode 3 – Superstitious thinking
  • Episode 4 – How we learn moves, and then misapply them
  • Episode 5 – Why we seek out a lot of information on a subject regardless of its worth
  • Episode 6 – Blame, and why players don’t take any
  • Episode 7 – Rewards and account balances
  • Episode 8 – Ego in poker, why the best maintain a low profile

If you are having trouble with the psychological side of poker these videos will be priceless for you. Not to mention they are extremely entertaining thanks to JimmyLegs humor and style. Wray also brings his knowledge of filmmaking to the Cardrunners team, an addition that has already been noticed in the site’s video quality.

JimmyLegs has also been penning a similar style series concerning behavioral psychology in poker for PokerNewsDaily, where he has written two columns entitled, Poker and the Endowment Effect, and The Primacy Effect in Poker.

In addition to being a great poker thinker, JimmyLegs is also a proven heads-up NLHE winner, which makes him the poker training version of a triple-threat: Poker skills, video production, and psychological mastermind.

JimmyLegs is just one of the recent additions to the Cardrunners Team in 2010. Other notable additions include the Pot Limit Omaha specialist Andreas ‘skjervoy’ Torbergsen; Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates, who is ensconced in a challenge match with Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and is one of the hottest online poker players at the moment; NLHE grinder John ‘Nicolak’ Kim; and Mickey ‘mement_mori’ Petersen, winner of two FTOPS titles.
