PokerXFactor Review

Poker X Factor is one of the most established poker training sites on the Internet. Started by two extremely successful online players Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy and Eric “Sheets” Haber; and featuring some of the most well known online players as guest instructors, PokerXFactor is considered by many to be an “upper tier” poker training site.

Known mainly for their S&G and MTT coaching –both in amount of content, and also for being top notch “coaches”- Poker X factor has started branching out into cash games (which will be jumpstarted by the acquisition of PokerFox).

Poker X Factor touts itself as a full on training site, rather than a collection of videos and articles. The Poker X Factor team challenges its members with quizzes, posts hand histories, and offers lectures to help its members improve their game: In addition to their 1,000+ video library!

Strengths

Poker X Factor’s biggest asset is the amount of content that can be found on the site; especially tournament strategy. Although the cash game content has grown by leaps and bounds as well, and is a high priority.

With a who’s who of poker players, Poker X Factor has the talent to compete with any training site, and their chief contributors are considered to be the best “Instruction Team” in the market. Their guest instructors include:

• Eric “Rizen” Lynch
• Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul
• Chris “brsavage” Savage
• Jon “PearlJammer” Turner
• Jon “Apestyles” Van Fleet
• Mike “inissint” Glasser
• Joe “Hoodini10” Udine
• “aaaaaaaa”
• Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis
• Paul “uclabruinz” Smith
• Adam “hatfield13” Stemple
• Chris “PokerFox” Wallace
• Chris "beanmo" Mozingo
• Scott "Big Riskky" Clements
• Mark "MScell" Scellato

Along with “Sheets” –considered one of the best S&G players in the world-- and “JohnnyBax” this group can be found ripping up online sites –PokerStars, Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker--across the web.

Another major strength of Poker X Factor is the sheer volume of traffic. There is nothing better than an active forum, and Poker X Factor definitely has one! Besides the site’s instructors you’ll also run into many big names in their forum: Annette Oberstadt “Annette 15” is a frequent poster in the forums.

Weaknesses

Poker X Factor has two holes I would like to see filled.
First, for an established site with a strong member base they really need to add a few more full-time instructors to the mix. Their video release frequency is far below other sites that they compete against, and it’s always good to have a few additional minds enter conversations.

Secondly, the site is lacking in looks and is difficult to navigate. These cosmetic and design changes should be one of Poker X factor’s top priorities. The site contains over 1,000 videos, but only three search options! And the design and layout of the site does not convey top-notch professional instruction.

Video Library Summary:

Videos – 1,000+ videos
Cash Games – 125+ videos – the cash game videos are almost exclusively NLHE, ranging from low-stakes to $5/$10
Multi-Table Tournaments (freeze-out) – 500+ videos – Every conceivable MTT topic is covered
Multi-table Tournaments (re-buy) – 165 videos – Again, probably the best MTT content of any site
Sit & Go Tournaments – 160+ videos – range in buy-in from $1-$2000 (definitely something for everyone!)
Miscellaneous – 56 videos – Poker X Factor has a good amount of PLO videos in this section

Written Content:

Poker X Factor has an abundance of written material for members to pore over. Most notable are the quizzes, which allow players to see how well they are absorbing the lessons from the site.

Poker X Factor also has the mandatory blog and forum areas that poker training sites seem to have: However, their forum stands out from other sites; both in activity and in the quality of the posters.

Goodies:

• Poker X factor has a top of the line hand re-player, which helps convert Hand Histories in their forum.
• Poker X factor offers members access to lectures from its instruction team.
• Poker X factor offers members access to a plethora of site sponsored free-rolls and leagues.

Price

Poker X Factor is one of the pricier training sites out there, but the quality and quantity of content is well worth the price.
• $24.95/month price tag, along with a hefty $119.95 sign-up fee

Poker X factor accepts major credit cards, Paypal, and poker sites transfers from Ultimate Bet, giving its customers multiple options for payment.

The Verdict: Score: 6/10
With an inflated price tag and a lack of diversity in their content, PokerXFactor can't really compete with the best poker training sites. We feel the money required for a PokerXFactor subscription could be much better spent on an alternative site.
